Window Tinting - What are the advantages?

  1. Window tints can help to prevent theft, especially on works vans and other commerical vehicles. The idea is that if a thief can not see what is in the vehicle, they won't take the risk of breaking in and finding nothing.
  2. Another advantage is that in the event of an accident the plastic film from a window tint can keep the glass in one piece, preventing it from shattering and injuring any occupants.
  3. Finally, and probably the most popular reason for window tints - they look very cool!

Window Tinting - Is it Legal?

The law is a bit tricky when it comes to window tinting so lets look at the bit that is perfectly clear. All windows from the middle of the car (from the B-pillar) backwards CAN be tinted to any desired level.

What happens if i'm caught with illegal tints?

In the majority of cases you will be issued with a delayed prohibition which states the tints must be removed within 10 days. However, in some situations where the tints are too dark (less than 30% of light gets through) the vehicle can not be moved under its own power until the tints are removed.
